"What is art?” They will learn how to create a Campbell's' soup can using 3-dimensional shape. Students will review cursive handwriting and invent a unique flavor of soup. The background will be comprised of symbols that represent the flavor of their soup. Students typically learn how to write cursive in the 3rd grade and this lesson will take place after they have done so in their classrooms. |

| In this lesson, students create a large poster in the style of either Peter Max, Roy Lichtenstein, or Andy Warhol. We discuss copyrighting and how that plays a role in creating art and how it was part of the Pop Art movement. Students select images that they feel represent the popular culture of their generation. Prior to starting this lesson, students are introduced to color theory and mixing paint. Students are only given red, yellow, blue, black, and white to create their posters. |

| This is a letter I use to send home to parents of students that are not acting appropriately. I ask that it is signed and returned so that I know parents have seen it. I also keep a parent contact form and mark whether or not parents return the letter. It keeps open communication between you and the parents, and helps to keep your classroom running smoothly. |

| When students need a warning to settle down they are told to go sign the OOPS! board. There is a clipboard with the OOPS! form kept near the door. Students sign their name, date, and class number. At the beginning of the year if their name is on the board three times in one class hour they get a write-up. As the year goes on they only get two or one chances. Classroom teachers are able to check the board when they collect their class and can assist in following up on discipline issues. Usually signing once helps a child settle down. All of our related arts classes at our school use the same form. Consistency is key. |

| This application helps us organize and select which artworks will go to each art show we participate in each year. Students can submit up to three (or more) artworks for consideration. This way we know that we're not sending too many of one type of work to a certain show. Additionally, it is a great resource for mailing out invitations to parents, creating tags for works, and for general organization. A release form is also integrated into this form. When we receive the forms back from students we alphabetize them in a 3-ring binder. |

| The Design Analog is created to help students interpret and summarize a verse from the Edgar Allen Poe poem The Raven (which will then be turned into an illustration).
This worksheet guides students through creating visual analogies and images to help reinforce the concepts of symbolism, and collect their thoughts for the sketching process.
The illustrations are then added together in Movie-Maker and narrated by the students to create a movie and reading of the poem. |

| This is a simple resource I handout to my 2nd grade students when we are working on various lessons I teach that have to do with the Lakota Indians and Teepees. They use the designs and symbols on this handout as a reference to help them decorate their teepees. Before they start drawing we go through them together and talk about what their meanings are. |
