THE PLAN
3 sessions; 50 minutes per session

AWBAT create a stencil by using an Xacto knife to cut away the negative space around an object.

1. Spray paint (really any paint or pigment can be used)
2. Colored paper (really any substrate can be used)
3. Images of something (birds, in our case)

Need these materials? Visit Blick!

1. Select and print a cohesive set of images for your students to use for their silhouettes

2. Students select the image of their choice (you might want to consider limiting the amount of each image to a certain number to avoid duplicates)

3. Students use an Xacto knife to cut away negative space

4. Using a single piece of tape, students mount their positive shape to a piece of paper with a small, centered tape roll

5. Take a trip outdoors on a beautiful day and spray paint away!

This is really cool. I made spray chalk to try something similar to this at the end of the school year then it rained and we couldn't do it!
