4. Markers
5. Crayons
6. Colored pencils

1. Give students a lesson on how to draw an object and make something look like it goes behind it without having lines go through each other. (Many students have trouble with this, draw examples on the board.)
2. Talk about objects that can be associated with a type of character (A pirate could have a sword, chicken legs, treasure, etc)
3. Girls will be drawing the hair pictures, boys will be drawing the beard pictures. They will draw the hair from the nose up and create a crazy hair-do full of objects that describes the person. The beard drawing will be from nose down, and be the same but with objects woven into the beard.
4. Talk about getting good textures with different kinds of hair types.

Students will be assessed on being able to fill the whole paper, coloring nicely, and their ability to draw many objects to describe who their character is.

I do this with ages 8-10 and they all really love it. They were very creative and successful.
