Paper Polyhedrons

Students mix art with geometry by creating interesting polyhedra forms out of paper and creating a design which incorporates rhythm or pattern.

THE PLAN
1. SWBAT define a polyhedron and related terms.
2. SWBAT create a paper polyhedron with a design that implements rhythm or pattern.
3. SWBAT correctly use new techniques and prismacolor markersto create/aid in their design.

1. Polyhedron templates
2. cardstock
3. pencil
4. ruler
5. light table or something to trace
6. glue stick
7. prismacolor markers
8. scisors or x-acto knife

1. Art Start (quick writing activity at beginning of class): What is the difference between rhythm and pattern?
--Discuss how rhythm has movement and pattern is stoic.
2. Review Powerpoint and take notes
3. Demo how to trace template onto cardstock
4. Students sketch 3+ designs of rhythm or pattern before they begin.(Process is in powerpoint)
5. Draw design on cardstock and color with marker.
6. Cut out and glue together
7. Display using fishing line
