1. Students will copy tapestry vocabulary into their sketchbook
2. Students will choose yarn colors (3) and wind them into smaller bobbins for ease when weaving
3. Students will get their canvas frame and use a ruler to mark off 6 marks at the top and the bottom for even placement of the 3M hooks.
4. Top hooks must open up, and hooks on the bottom row must open down. This is to hold the warp yarns in place.
5. The ruler is to be used as a shed and inserted over and under across the width. When turned on its side, it will open a shed for easier weaving.
6. Students will pick one color yarn. Leave a 6" extension, which is taped to the back of the canvas.
7. Weave over and under across the width and leave in a balloon shape. This is so the selvage won't bow in.
8. Use the fork to pull the yarn into place.
9. Weave the next row, using the opposite method. (under, over) and again leave in a balloon shape before beating down with the fork.
10. Continue on, adding yarns. Make sure ends of the both colors overlap in the row, so a hole isn't created.
11. Weave to 1" of top.
12. To remove: Lift off fabric from bottom hooks and top hooks. Working from one side, hold the bottom end in one hand, and take the corresponding top loop and pull it up to tighten. Then tie the top loop into a knot. Continue until your are done pulling loops and tying them. It will have a fringe top.
13. Note: Fabric can be attached to a wooden stick or left on the canvas frame for display.

Students may hang work in gallery, library, office or art room.
