Paper Engraving

Students will create a picture engraving using colored pencils and ink pens.

THE PLAN
1 session; 60 minutes per session

1. SWBAT to create engraved artwork using color pencils.

1. Colored pencils
2. Bristol board or poster board
3. printer paper
4. Ink pen
5. Masking tape

1. On printer paper draw a picture.

2. Tape your drawing to the bristol board (picture side up). Make sure the bristol board is the same size as the paper your drawing is on. If not than cut down to size.

3. Begin tracing over your drawing with the ink pen. Make sure to apply enough pressure to the paper without tearing it.

4. Using the side of your colored pencils color the bristol board. The background will pick up the colors while the lines you engraved will remain white. (Continue to add more more colors and engrave more lines as needed.)
