Introduce African textiles using PPT.
Look at different Adinkra stamps. I use the book, Stencils West Africa Ghana, as a resource. Students look at different symbols and their meanings.

Next, students use the Adinkra stamp worksheet to create their own stamp design based on a memory. Discuss how to simplify designs.

Using pre-cut 3x3 in. square cardboard pieces. Cut foam in the shape of stamp and glue down.

Using brayer, roll ink on stamp and stamp on 6x6 in. colored true-fab. Stamp 4 times.

Mount on black paper. Share with students about Kente cloth (use PPT). Have students use paper to create a border. Discuss symmetry and pattern.
