I attach these to student work to hand back after grading. I also like to show a blank one to them before they get started so that students know what is expected.
This is an example used to grade an interpretation of Starry Night painting. I use the same three components for every project (Following directions, craftsmanship, and originality) but change the title and specific criteria. I create four duplicates to print as slides that I can quickly cut to fill out and return to students.
I get far fewer questions about grades such as "Why did I get a B?", "Why didn't I get a 100?" and it helps me to be more objective when grading.
