Warm & Cool Colors Portraits

Students will use warm and cool colors to create portraits.

THE PLAN
3 sessions; 40 minutes per session

1. SWBAT learn about primary and secondary colors.

2. SWBAT create a portrait using only warm and cool colors.

1. Pencil

2. Paper (drawing paper or watercolor paper)

3. Markers, colored pencils, and/or watercolor

1. The class will be given a brief introduction to primary and secondary colors.

2. Select a photo of a person to draw. This can be a self-portrait or a picture of a family member, friend, or celebrity.

3. Lightly sketch out your portrait on the paper. (If students need help or if this is their first time drawing a person go over the "grid technique" with them.)

4. Using warm colors (reds, oranges and yellows) and cool colors (blues, purples and greens) color your portrait.
