TLW execute their own collage-style Grouchy Ladybug composition

Pre-cut red circles (body)
Pre-cut small white circles (eyes)
Pre-cut small black circles (spots)
Pre-cut green ovals (leaves)
Glue
Blue markers
Black markers
Blue 9 in x 12 in paper

1. Read the book
2. Ask students to identify circles and other shapes within the book on 2nd viewing
3. Ask students to identify red and green colors
4. Ask students to explain what is going on specific pages to help develop an idea of context
5. Hand out blue paper
6. Hand out blue markers
7. Ask students to create clouds and wind on their paper
8. Hand out pre-cut shapes
9. As a class, glue down shapes in the correct sequence (leaves, body, spots, eyes)
10. Allow students to create more than one ladybug if they desire
11. Hand out black markers
12. Demonstrate how to create legs, pupils, and eyebrows
13. Students mimic
14. Students stand up in front of the class to talk about their Grouchy Ladybugs.
