1. Give students a book ( or let them choose a book )
2. Devise a plan for turning their book into art.
- have them plan on paper in written form or sketches their plans to alter the book.
3. Alter and repurpose the books into a visually interesting work of art.
4. Using varied mediums add color, contrast, and visual interest to their new sculpture creations.

Students will be given specific requirements to fulfill - this could be to use a specific amount of found objects incorporated into their sculpture, or the requirement of using some medium to add color.
Also the addition of incorporating specific principles of art to their work and then graded based on the accomplishment of these tasks.

This project can be left wide open or specific requirements can be placed on the constructions. I have given each student the exact same book or allowed the students to choose their own book based on their design ideas.
