Artist Portraits

Students will select and study one of three famous artist. Then create portraits of that artist in their style or based off of one of their artworks. The three artists are Georgia O’Keeffe, Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol.

THE PLAN
3 sessions; 60 minutes per session

1. SWBAT study the life and artworks of Georgia O’Keeffe, Jackson Pollock or Andy Warhol.

2. SWBAT create portraits of Georgia O’Keeffe, Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol in their style.

1. Paper (drawing paper, cardstock, watercolor paper, etc.)

2. Mix media

3. Photo references of artist & artwork

1. Students will select one of there artists to learn about. (Georgia O’Keeffe, Jackson Pollock or Andy Warhol)

2. Students will research the details about the artist life and their artworks.

3. Create a portrait of the artist in their style or based off their artwork.

For extra credit have students create a portrait of an artist that's not on the list.
