We had students explore space and the ocean, now it's time for land. Students will imagine themselves as explorers on a expedition. This project is paired up with "Under The Sea" and "Up Up & Away". Link in author's notes.

THE PLAN
2 sessions; 60 minutes per session
1. SWBAT learn about different locations on land such as forests, mountain ranges and even city streets.
2. SWBAT create a window depicting a scene on land.
Before starting this project have students research about different locations on land. Use photos collected in books and on the internet for inspiration.
1. Trace plate on cardboard and cut out.
2. Paint the cardboard using acrylic paint to represent sky. This will act as the base for your background.
3. Cut out a large hole in the center of the paper plate. Then paint the remaining piece of the plate with acrylic. This will act as the window to your vehicle.
4. Create your landscape scene using cardboard. Draw, color and cut out the pieces. Before gluing, figure out the placement of your pieces to be glued to the background created in step 2.
5. Place the paper plate on top of your background and staple shut.
