The sculpture was made from a wire hanger and pantyhose. Once the form was created, students sponge brushed white elmers glue slightly diluted on the sculpture. We got glued them into floral foam which had already been spray painted. The floral goal was glued to a flat Masonite base. The sculpture was covered with gesso before actual designs were applied.
Students were assessed on craftsmanship and how well the theme was presented.

This was a fun project that really helped explain abstract art.
Some students did great on the theme design using real items as assigned. Some just wanted to "decorate" their sculpture. Some wanted to stay more on the abstract side. It was still fun talking about all of the designs everyone came up with.
