Students will recreate a famous piece of art by modernizing it to reflect the world we live in today.

THE PLAN
3 sessions; 40 minutes per session

1. SWBAT research and select a piece of art to recreate.

2. SWBAT modernize the artwork to reflect the world we live in today.

1. Paper

2. Crayons, paint, markers, etc.

3. Reference of a famous piece of art (photo copy or digital)

Need these materials? Visit Blick!

1. On their own or given a list of famous artowrks have students choose and research one.

2. Next students will recreate it to reflect the world today. Students can add building structures or even tech that didn't exist when the original was created.

    This is great. Could combine with looking at the work of Kehinde Wiley.
    He did a whole show at the SF contemporary Jewish art Museum of famous paintings reconfigured as portraits of African Americans.
