Watercolor Animals

Students learn about the techniques of watercolor while applying them to the creation of animal paintings.

THE PLAN
5 sessions; 90 minutes per session

Students will paint an animal of their choice using watercolor techniques.

Teacher introduces students to the concept of watercolor. Students and teacher spend time practicing the different watercolor techniques and doing simple watercolor 'follow by number' paintings.

Teacher demonstrates how to draw animals and students spend time practicing how to draw animals of their choice.

Students draw an animal of their choice and paint it with watercolor techniques

Did students use at least three different watercolor techniques? Did they paint an animal in watercolor?

[9-12 Proficient] Students reflect on how artworks differ visually, spatially, temporally, and functionally, and describe how these are related to history and culture
