Night Sky

Created on June 25, 2018 by Mario82

Day 1.

1. On a sheet of cardstock with crayons, have students doodle on it. It can be of anything, even words. Make sure students leave enough room anywhere near the upper part of their paper for their initials. Be sure to advise students to press down hard while coloring. (The only colors not allowed is anything in the blue or purple family).

Day 2.

2. With watercolor have students cover the whole page with shades of blues or purple, or a combination of both. The doodles made in crayons will show through. This is called the crayon resist technique. (Before step 2. teachers should do a quick demo of the crayon resist technique).

Day 3.

3. After giving the project time to dry, cut out shapes of trees, mountains or buildings with black construction paper. Then glue them down to the paper. (Use a pencil the draw out the shapes before cutting them).

A fun project to do with young students during the first week of school.
