printmaking with water based markers

this is an introduction to printmaking, using colored markers.

THE PLAN
2 sessions; 40 minutes per session

SWBAT; define shape
SWBAT: define printing

1. pencil
2. water based markers
3. practice paper
4. foam sheets with sticky back
5. cardboard
6. scissors
7. sponges
8. good paper for the print

1. Draw 3-4 ideas for the stamp, have 3-5 different shapes that are different sizes in each idea.
2. cut the cardboard about 4x4 inches
3, redraw the shapes onto the foam to create the pieces for the stamp, make sure they are large enough to fill the space.
4. cut out shapes and stick to the cardboard.
5. DO a PRACTICE print. color the shapes with markers, you can add patterns and change colors, wet the paper with the sponge so it is DAMP, not dripping, stamp!
6. If the practice print can out good, do 4 more prints to fill the 9x12 paper!

    Perfect project for a remote learning activity. Most of my students will have the necessary supplies at home. I will provide a read aloud from the Mentor Text, What do you do with an Idea. Literacy and Art - perfect combo.
