Back to school zentangles

Sometimes it can be hard for students to get back in the swing of things when school starts back up. So this fun & relaxing zentangle project should help. By turning their favorite school supplies into a work of art.

THE PLAN
1 session; 60 minutes per session

1. SWBAT create a zentangle drawing of their school supplies.

1. Drawing paper

2. Pencil

3. Black sharpies (fine & extra fine)

4. Crayons

1. Students will reach into their book bags pick out their favorite school supply. Students can also pick an item at random.

2. With a pencil draw the item onto a sheet of drawing paper very large. It doesn't have to be fully detailed.

3. Now outline your drawing with the sharpies. Then proceed to draw patterns (tangles) on your drawing. Don't worry about making a mistake, just draw what comes to mind. Once down erase your pencil lines.

4. Color your zentangle drawing with crayons.


Play relaxing music while students are working on their zentangles.
