Mr. Popper's Penguins

Inspired by the book of the same name. Students will create pictures of themselves as one of Mr. Poppers's penguins. To go the extra mile teachers can create a picture of themselves taking on the Mr. Popper role.

THE PLAN
1. SWBAT read the book Mr. Popper's Penguins by Richard and Florence Atwater.

2. SWBAT create a picture of themselves as one of Mr. Poppers's penguins.

1. Paper (black construction paper and white drawing paper)

2. Markers, paints, crayons etc.

3. Glue

4. Scissors

5. Odds and ends

1. Read the book Mr. Popper's Penguins by Richard and Florence Atwater.

2. Using white and black paper create a drawing of yourself as a penguin. Give the penguin items that best fit your personality. Each penguin drawing should be given a background.

This can make a great display for the classroom, especially if the teacher creates a drawing as well.
