1. Introduce lesson by showing examples.
2. Review/ explain composition, focus on how photographers may take more than one shot at different angles, distances.
3. Explain project, students walk around inside/outside of building to find the letters in their name.
4. Darkroom classes, students develop their own photography and mount letters together.
5. Digital classes can edit photos, copy to word or other software to arrange letters and print. I use word, its easy for elementary level and they can also edit and crop their photos in word.
6. Students or the teacher should decide if the photos should be all color or all black and white.
7. Show students how to manipulate photos in word or other photo editing software.
7. Print and mount.

The examples posted here are photos I found online. I did this lesson years ago and have since lost my memory drive so my student samples are lost. This project can be done by just searching for photo letters online and copying them to word but beware of copyright issues.

I try to challenge students to try to find letters in nature and objects that are not actual letters. Worse case, if a student cannot find a letter they need they make take a picture of a letter from a sign.
