Students will study Arcimboldo's food portraits. Students will use free online software to create their own Arcimboldo-inspired food face.

1. introduce Acrimboldo and Renaissance art using the PPT provided
2. Overview project
3. Discuss what is good/bad about exemplars
4. hand out paper, pencils, and crayons
5. Students sketch out ideas
6. Hand out the How-To Create a Digital Acrimboldo Portrait worksheet (provided)
7. Demo how to use the worksheet
8. Have students work through the worksheet and provided aid
9. Have students print artwork and/or upload to a class wiki

10 pts completed artwork
10 pts head, eyes, ears, hair, mouth, nose
10 pts at least three extra elements (neck earrings etc. etc.)

    I like the discussion of what's good / bad about exemplars before starting. I was also glad to find pixlr.com - I am teaching digital image editing next year and that might be an easy start before we head to gimp. Thanks for sharing!

    Love the lesson! Don't mean to be snarky, (and it might just be a typo) but it's ARcimboldo--if we're teaching it, we should probably teach it correctly...
