High [9th-12th] Handout

100 Step Adobe Illustrator "Realitoon"

Created on September 01, 2012 by Jenncook678

Step by Step instructions for my independent "Realitoon" project for Adobe Illustrator. I only have one computer in my class so I had to make a detailed handout so a student could work independently while the rest of the class works on other projects.

Detailed procedure in the attachment.

A few questions to guide your assessment:
1. Was the student able to complete the assignment?
2. What level of detail did the student achieve?
3. How difficult was the reference image to reproduce?
4. Was the student able to identify shaded areas in a way that looked right?
5. Did the student create forms using the pen tool that matched the original image?
6. Did the student create a unique and creative background?
- Did the student try out different background ideas?
6. Did the student try out any other tools on Illustrator?

This is designed to be a project that a student can do alone. Students sign up to use the computer for a week.
Using the detailed instructions, they should be able to complete the task with very little help while the rest of the class continues on with their work.
This is for a Graphic Arts class. Most students have not been exposed to a Mac or Illustrator. This is a skill building project.

I have used this Illustrator step-by-step for my grade 10 Graphic Design class for two years in a row. It is a fantastic introduction to all the basics students will need to use this program. It takes a bit of time to complete but the kids LOVE the results every time. Thank you so much for creating this, it is an excellent way to teach Illustrator!

You don't happen to have anything like this for Photoshop or InDesign, do you?
