Hola! This colorful Cinco de Mayo Bulletin Board is so much fun! Students and parents can create tissue paper flowers ahead of time. Then classroom students can work together to make their construction paper flowers! Ole!

THE PLAN
5 sessions; 30 minutes per session

TSWBAT understand and exoerience the Cinco De Mayo celebration through art.

1. The colorful tissue paper flowers can be made ahead. Parent involvement will be a wonderful idea for a Parent Open House.
2. Show a powerpoint/slides of Frida Kahlo's self-portraits with the brilliant flowers in her head.
3. Discuss the Cinco de Mayo tradition in Mexico.
4. The bulletin board can be made during class times. Each student can create their own flower/s from construction paper.
5. A final activity would be to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with parents and classmates. Enjoy a Mexican potluck with tacos, beans and chips!

This would be a school/community activity so no assessment.
