Day 1: Have students write their name on the back of the tag board. Tell students you will be giving them a stack of Popsicle sticks. They must use these sticks to create a skeleton of their drawing. Their drawing can be abstract or realistic (use this time to review what realistic and abstract art is). Tell students that you will not pass out the glue for 15 minutes. Encourage them to manipulate and change their design. Have students glue their sticks when you're ready.
Day 2-3: Pass out markers and tell students that they are only allowed to color the sticks with the markers. When they are done with that, they may then use crayons to color their background. Review good craftsmanship and tell students you expect this to be their best project in terms of craftsmanship.
This is always the last project I do with kindergarten every year and it's always a big hit.
