6th grade Harlem Renaissance Unit - Students collaborated, researched, and worked creatively on several projects, combining art with music and poetry inspired by artists of the Harlem Renaissance.

THE PLAN
8 sessions; 40 minutes per session

1. Define imagery.
2. Describe how music creates imagery.
3. Describe how poetry creates imagery.
4. Analyze the biographies and artworks of Jacob Lawrence, Romare Bearden, and Louis Mailou Jones.
5. Create an original artwork inspired by one of the listed artists.
6. Explain how the artist inspired your artwork.
