I would love to hear if other educators are using grants or other opportunities to help fund their classroom or school. I love Donorschoose and I'm always looking for other resources.

I have never personally used DonorsChoose--have you had much success with it as a financing option?

I have had great success with Donorschoose. One year I raised over 8,000 for my class. I think it's more competitive due to more users but still a great resource.

I'm starting to get the sense that you're pretty resourceful!

I have a project on DonorsChoose and it's a fairly large one, and it's a little over half way funded. Which reminds me, I better post it some more on Twitter and Facebook.

I'm also a big fan of Adobe Youth Voices Curriculum for teaching video and multimedia. Been working with them for a few years now. Their site has some great lessons, and handouts. Partnership provides some money for equipment and some software. Unfortunately, I think they aren't taking on very many new school sites at moment.

Part of what I do at school is also funded by the California Partnerships Academies, a Career/Tech ed branch of the State Dept. of Education. I don't know what other states have going in terms of career/tech ed, but seems like a great way to build support for art related fields like graphic design, animation, and video production. Our school has really embraced and supported the pathways model.

I got 4 digital cameras for my classroom last year through donorschoose.org. The year before that I tried to get some art supplies and didn't have any luck. I think it depends a lot on your own promotional efforts. This year I am trying for new pottery tools and since I have more points I think I will get more than one project going at a time!

Is DonorsChoose for teachers in USA? I am teaching in Australia and interested in grants for Australian teachers ;-)
