I am working w/classroom teachers to create a simple research paper for 5th graders. Does anyone know of any websites/books that give good information about various arists & their work? The "Getting to know the artists" series is a bit too young for my students and most websites I'm finding have more adult material.

Many of us are using Artsonia to raise funds for our art rooms. My administrator suggested that funds raised from the Artsonia site should be used towards a big ticket item or goal. What do you believe is an item worth saving or fundraising for in your art room?

I think I am subconsciously afraid of giving markers to my students and watching them go bonkers with excitement, turning their beautiful artwork into darkly-colored blobs of ink. I would love some new and interesting ideas for marker projects that, well, look good :) Does anyone have a marker project that they love?

I read Bobby McFerrin's Calder illustrated Don't Worry, Be Happy while playing McFeerin's song of the same name. Inspired by Calder’s cheerful free form shapes, spirals and heavenly bodies, we do paintings in red, yellow and blue, later outlining shapes with black Sharpie.

We made a 3x6 foot bottlecap mural in the fall and thought we were successful. However, after several months, the caps are beginning to pop off. I used tacky glue and hot glue, both are coming off equally. I've heard of some teachers using mail guns... but mine are attached to heavy cardboard. Any suggestions?

I work on the policy side of education, and I am a big supporter of art education. Funding for art education is being cut across the board in this country, and I was wondering how you all felt about that. What do you say to someone who says reading and mathematics are more important than art education?
