OP art room with marbles

Students will create an OP art room and place water color marbles of different sizes in the room to enhance the perception of space.

THE PLAN
4 sessions; 45 minutes per session

1. SWBAT correctly use the rules of one point perspective to create a "room"
2. SWBAT correctly color (in an AB pattern) their design with black and another color or colors.
3. SWBAT use watercolor techniques to paint a paper
4. SWBAT use circle templates or a compass to create a variety of circles on the back of the painted paper.
5. SWBAT cut out the circles and arrange them within the OP art picture to suggest space.

1. Find center on the paper
2. Draw a rectangle that is proportional to the paper size in the center of the paper.
3. Use the rules of 1 pt. perspective to create an OP art room
4. Color in using an AB pattern of black and one other color. ( Can use different color on each side if you wish)
5. Paint additional paper using various watercolor techniques.
6. Trace circle templates or use compass to create circles of various sizes on the back of the dried painting.
7. Cut circles out.
8. Glue circles to OP art design to suggest space and to add to the 3-d appearance of the piece.

Do a pre - draw with the students focusing on the basics of one point perspective prior to this project.
