Shoe Painting

Students will create a design to paint on a pair of shoes. Students will learn about shoe customization and painting on alternative surfaces.

THE PLAN
5 sessions; 70 minutes per session

Teacher introduces concept of shoe customization.
Teacher explains process and differences in painting on an alternative surface.
Students plan design for shoes that will be in tandem across both shoes and stretch all the way around the shoe.

Students paint new design on shoes
When finished, students spray on coats of water repellent to seal in color and protect designs.

Did students create a design that stretches all the way around the shoes.
Did students create designs that work together between both shoes?

My students provide their own shoes. We do this project in preparation for the Vans Shoe Contest that is done ever spring.
