Students create a surrealist collage using magazines. Students first choose 3-5 backgrounds that can be layered on each other to create a foreground, middleground and background. They then look for images for a focal point and additional details. After students have created their collage, they create 6 thumbnail sketches of possible compositions based on their collage. They then choose one composition to paint.
