Positive & Negative Halloween

Students will create a Halloween inspired image using positive and negative space.

THE PLAN
1 session; 60 minutes per session

1. SWBAT create a Halloween image.

2. SWBAT use positive and negative space.

1. Construction paper (black, orange, white, purple and green)

2. Scissors

3. Glue

4. Pencil

1. Decide on a halloween image. Give students the choice between: a witch, a jack-o'-lantern, a ghost, a bat or a black cat.

2. Select one full sheet and one half sheet of construction paper. Each in a different color.

3. On the full sheet of paper find the center of the paper either by folding it in half or using a ruler.

4. On the half sheet of paper, draw half of your picture then cut it out. Glue the half sheet pieces down to one half of the full sheet of paper. Then position the other cut out pieces on the opposite side and glue them down.
