1. Students will research a chosen artist.
2. Students will create a unique cereal box that reflects their chosen artist.
3. Students can give a presentation or create a commercial to explain the information that they learned during the research process.

THE PLAN
10+ sessions; 45 minutes per session
1. SWBAT demonstrate proper research skills to gain knowledge of their chosen artist. (How to cite sources, how to quote information, and how to find reliable sources.)
2. SWBAT visually represent their chosen artist through a cereal box design.
3. SWBAT discuss and teach classmates about their chosen artist.
1. Computer or artist materials for research purposes. This can also be used to look at cereal boxes for ideas.
2. Pencil
3. Drawing Paper (we used 9x12)
4. Colored Pencils. (you really could do this with anything)
1. Each students will choose an artist that they would like to learn about (and eventually present information over). Students will use the "Artist Research" document to help organize information (they will not be limited to finding only this information as they are able to add as much as they would like). 45 minutes x 2 or 3.
2. Students will use the "Cereal Box Requirements" document to start developing their cereal box ideas. Students will need to incorporate 2 of their chosen artist's works into their cereal box idea. Cereal box ideas should reflect the students' chosen artist. Students will do a "mockup" sketch to show the teacher for approval. 45 minutes (possibly x 2)
3. After each student has shown and discussed their idea with the teacher, students will begin lightly drawing their final idea onto their final material (paper, canvas, linoleum, etc) 45 minutes x 2 - 4.
4. Once each student has completed their final drawing, they may begin to add color (we used colored pencils, but you can use whatever works for you). 45 minutes x 3-5.
5. Once students have completed their cereal box drawing, each students will present their artist information to the class. This could be done in many ways. One fun way to do this would be to have your students create infomercials one their artist and cereal boxes. 45 Minutes x 2-5
