THE PLAN
Students learn about the contemporary artists, Jen Aranyi.

Students draw and ink a landscape in the style of Jen Aranyi.

Students use the wet on wet technique of using watercolor and how to create texture by adding salt.

watercolor, brushes, water cups
black sharpies, fine and ultra fine tip
salt

1. Introduce lesson by showing pictures of Jen Aranyi's landscapes and talking about her work.

2. Discuss how the artist might go about creating these pictures.

3. Demonstrate how to draw a landscape softly and outlining with black marker. Erase stray pencil lines.

4. Students determine what kind of sky they want to depict, night, day, sunset, etc. Demonstrate how to watercolor the sky with wet on wet technique and salt while the watercolor is still wet to create texture.

5. Once dry brush off salt.
