Students will create a 10" or 14” diameter circle using the slab roller and pin tool.

Due to the large nature of this piece, the slab needs to be at least ¼ inch thick and very consistent – no tears and creases.

Once students have their slab circle created, they will use a ruler and lightly mark lines to ensure symmetry in their design.

Following their guidelines, students will begin constructing their Mandala design using coils, slab forms, miniature spheres, stamps, etc.

Students will slowly build their design making sure to slip, score, and mend all attached pieces extremely well!

When the entire Mandala has been constructed student will place the their clay work on the drying rack for bisque fire.

Following bisque fire, students will glaze their Mandalas with a thoughtful color scheme.
