The teacher will explain the color wheel and any color schemes that will be required for the project (you choose or leave it completely open).

The teacher will show and/or read "The Hungry Little Caterpillar". Students should pay close attention to the colors and textures of each page.

1. Students need to develop their idea or story. My requirement was they could have 4-5 pages (6x9). Their story had to be an action-reaction or sequential. Students will sketch out their ideas. (35 mins)

2. Teacher can decide if this part will be individual, group or whole class. Mine would be the entire class. Students will decide what colors they need for their story. Using their chosen colors of construction paper, students will pace their paper in a bin with 1-3 marbles. Students will then add a few drops of acrylics on top od their constructions paper. (colors can contrast, complement, or follow a specific color scheme that is set by the teacher). Students will roll their marble(s) through the paint until they have reached their liking. They will continue this process until they have all their chosen colors completed. If it is open to the whole class, each student would be in charge of of completing this process on a set amount of construction paper and then they would all share the paper. (35 mins x1-3).

3. When the paper has dried, student will begin cutting the shapes, forms, and figures they need to tell their story. Students will glue their items to their chosen background colors (ex: I chose blues for the ocean and sky). (35 mins. x 2-5 depending on details). Students will layer their items to create depth.

4. Students can use markers and colored pencils to outline, enhance, and finish their pieces. (35 mins x1-3 depending on details).
