Day 1: Look at a power point/books about the ocean. Brainstorm animals that live in the ocean. Pass out the design a pinch pot animal worksheet and have students complete it. Discuss the characteristics of underwater animals (fins, gills, etc.)

Day 2-3: Demonstrate how to make a pinch pot and how to score and slip pieces onto it. Give students two days to design their pot. On the second day, show them how to refine it with an elephant ear sponge.

Day 4-5: While the pinch pot animals are drying and firing, have students design an ocean habitat drawing to go with their pinch pot animal. Draw with pencil, outline with Sharpie, and color with crayon/colored pencils.

Day 6: Underglaze the animals, and then coat with clear glaze.
