Elementary [1st-5th] Lesson Plan

Georgia O'Keefe flowers

Created on August 18, 2013 by GypsyArt

Teach the students about the life and art of Georgia O'Keefe. Show them lots of examples of her artwork, focusing on the flowers. Bring in real and silk flowers for students to observe. Using SmartBoard or Elmo camera projector, teach (step-by-step)each class how to draw a specific flower. I did simple daisies with K-1st grades, sunflowers with 2nd-3rd grades, poppies with 4th, and roses with 5th grade. We used a variety of media for color: watercolor, crayons, and pastels.
