1. Read Dr. Seuss' Wocket in my Pocket
2. Discuss silly figures that he uses his imagine to create
3. Fold top corners of 9X12 paper to create a point. Turn paper over and see that it is shaped like the pocket on the back of your jeans.
4. Notice stitch designs on the pocket of different students' jeans.
5. Use construction paper crayons to add the stitching around pocket and a fancy design on the pocket. This is the only time you will use the crayons. All details on your wocket should be made from paper.
6. Glue the pocket by adding glue to sides of the pocket being careful to NOT glue the top of the pocket.
7. Mount the pocket onto the 12X18 piece of construction paper allowing more space above than below.
8. Use new piece of 9x12 construction paper to create an organic shape that fills the paper. This will be the body of your wocket. Be sure that the lower half of the wocket will fit into your pocket.
9. cut wocket
10. use paper scraps to add multi-layered details to your wocket...hair, eyes, mouth with teeth, nose, a small pocket to create a tiny wocket for your wocket. Let your imagination run wild and use lots of color.
Place wocket in your pocket.
