Every Friday we participate in an art talk about a different artist related to our current unit. This regular art discussion really develops the student's art criticism skills.

THE PLAN
1 session; 40 minutes per session
SWBAT use the four steps of art criticism to discuss a variety of work.
• Demonstration – The teacher will introduce Blu’s work by showing students a 7 minute stop motion animation video.
• Distribution – Students should use their art criticism worksheet from their folders. Student tables are responsible for paper and pencils.
• Work period – The students will answer the art criticism questions about their table. The teacher will walk around to observe and answer any questions.
• Clean-up – Students will turn in their work and put away their folders.
• Closure – The teacher will ask the students which artist they like the most so far and why.
Observation Checklist:
Students are using the language of art criticism.
Students are actively participating with their group.
Students are using the appropriate questions for each artwork.
Students are on task during the entire class period.
