1. Teacher will introduce the lesson with a power point on the artist Wayne Thiebaud. Students will see visuals of the artists work and be instructed on the lesson objectives.
2. Each student will be given an iPad and the teacher will instruct them on opening the Sketchbook Pro App.
3. Teacher will tell students about the different tools and explain that their digital drawing must include ONE original cake drawing with color and areas filled in.
4. Students will be instructed on how to email their final drawing to their teacher.

Day 2:
1. Teacher will re-introduce the lesson objectives.
2. Students will be given large black construction paper and a white piece of chalk.
3. Teacher will instruct students that they must have THREE cakes and each cake needs to be on a plate or stand.
4. Teacher will demonstrate using the space of the page. If the students make their cakes too small, they may have to add another cake to make the best use of space.
5. With white chalk students will draw their cakes- lines only- and the plate/plate stands.

Day 3:
1. Students will be given colored chalk pastel to finish their cakes and add decorative details like the artist.
2. Students will be told that only the background should be the black of the paper. Cakes should be colored in completely.
3.Students need to be aware of how messy the chalk can be and to try and keep their paper clean.

Students will be assessed on the following rubric:
- Does the final creation have THREE cakes?
- Are the cakes solid in color and do they contain decorative details like the examples?

- Did the student stay on task?
- Did the student use the materials correctly?
- Did the student demonstrate correct behavior in class during the assignment?

This was my second year doing this project. I was disappointed last year with how they turned out, so this year I used LARGER paper and incorporated the digital creation as well. The result was MUCH better.
