High [9th-12th] Worksheet

Art Criticism Worksheet

Created on April 22, 2014 by MrsImpey

This is a worksheet that I have recently created to try and dive a little deeper into art criticism with my high school students. I have pulled this worksheet together from other resources, combining pieces of them until I got something that suited myself and my students.

THE PLAN

The bulk of my packet came from the packet from "The Only Ingrid" blog article. I added, subtracted and tweaked the format to better suit the needs of myself and my students. I used the first link in the resource section above to help word my explanations. Finally, this has been created as a follow-up to a hand-out I created before, the "Art Reflection" handout (the third resource listed above). My students were struggling with completing the elements and principles section (they kept saying yes or no, never explained how they used those in their artwork), so I am hoping that this worksheet will help them be more expressive in their writing when talking about an artwork.

Art criticism is an essential part to a strong art program, so I am glad you are incorporating it more and giving us a resource to use in our own classrooms. Thank you.
