Mirrored Writing

Created on June 11, 2014 by Scorchard

A quick, non-materials intensive project that is great for filling in time at the end of the year or at the very beginning as a 'getting to know you'.

THE PLAN
6 sessions; 45 minutes per session

1. SWBAT create artworks that demonstrate an understanding of symmetry
2. SWBAT use text to create artworks
3. SWBAT choose from multiple suitable media in the creation of artworks

1. Directions/Criteria
2. Pencils
3. Lightbox (I use an 'old school' overhead projector)
4. Outline pencils or Generals Carbon Pencils
5. Sharpies
6. Computer Paper (8.5x11" lightweight paper)
7. Colored Media
8. Heavier paper (if you are giving students the option of using paint)

See Handout

Common Rubric (see earlier post)

I'm using this at the end of this year and have let students choose which media to use.

Last year it was used as the very first assignment and the media choices were limited to colored pencil or marker.

Cursive handwriting produces very insect looking artwork.
