Printing a Picture Frame with Recycled Stuff

This is a simple step-by-step lesson for the children to make a printed picture frame from Recycled Materials and paint.

THE PLAN
1 session; 50 minutes per session

1. SWBAT collect discarded materials to use in a recycling project.
2. SWBAT define recycle
3. SWBAT follow step by step directions on worksheet, independently
4. SWBAT appreciate creativity through recycling

1. Empty Kleenex Box (or Cereal Box)
2. Scissors
3. Square piece of Bubble Wrap(or anything recycled that can be used to print with: string, small bottle caps, saran wrap, corrugated cardboard)
4. Medium Size Lids (to hold paint)
5. Paper Towels and Newspaper
6. Paint and Water

1. The students will be shown a demonstration.
2. They will be given a Step-by-Step worksheet that they are to complete.
(See attached for worksheet)
3. When the students have finished printing, they are to clean up their area.

Students will use their printed picture frame, to later frame one of their own artworks.
Students will be assessed on their guided step-by-step worksheet and their ability to follow directions independently.
