3 sessions; 40 minutes per session

2. SWBAT define form.
2. SWBAT define value using watercolors.
3. SWBAT create abstract art using a variety of warm and cool colors.

1. Watercolor or card stock paper
2. Watercolor paint or watercolor pencils
3. Black Sharpie (or any black waterproof marker)
4. Paint brush
5. Cup of water
6. Paper towels
7. Pencil
8. Ruler

1. Using a pencil draw your shapes on the paper. Fill the whole page with either one type of shape or a combination of all three: triangles, squares and rectangles. Vary the sizes of your shapes and/or the angle of their placement. Use a ruler if necessary.

2. Next go over your lines with a black marker. You can do a combination thick and thin lines or keep them all the same.

3. On the inside of each shape draw lines that wrap all the way around until you reach the center without touching the sides. The insides will start to look like a mazes. (see photos for example)

4. Using watercolor color in each shape going from light to dark.

This is great to have your students work on with a sub!
