1. Introduction
-Introduce the assignment by guiding student through the Awareness and Change slides presentation (link in resources)
-Discuss how the designers communicated their ideas and how effective the communication was.
-Discuss the differences between posters and infographics and their uses
-Explain the assignment: research a topic, plan and create a poster or infographic to raise awareness about the topic or inspire change, incorporate a QR code that directs the viewer to a relevant website, and eventually share your design in a display with the class.
2. Research and Plan
-Students write down what idea or points they want to communicate, keep track of supporting research and sources, and find a website to direct viewers to
-Plan imagery and sketch possible designs
3. Execute plan
-Size should fit on 8.5x11 or 11x17 inch paper (or whatever your largest available print size is) and should have a resolution of 300 ppi for print.
-Students use Photoshop and any other tools or technology to execute their plan
-Students use the handout to make a QR code and insert it into their designs
4. Display
-Create a display in the hallway or public place to share the students' work
-Visit the display as a class and discuss

I started with a list of pre-approved topics that I thought would be fairly "safe" for my school. I allowed students to propose other ideas not on the list for approval if they wanted. You may not need a list depending on your school's climate.
