Students create textured paper using finger paints. Students read Mr. Seahorse by Eric Carle. Students create a collage-style artwork in the style of Eric Carle about Seahorses.

Liquid glue
Brushes
Markers
Seahorse templates
9 in x 12 in white heavy paper

2. Ask students to identify the seahorse and various colors while reading
3. Define collage for students
4. Ask students to discuss their favorite images from book and why
5. Explain students will get to make their own mr. seahorses
6. Hand out white paper and markers and template
7. Demo how to trace
8. Aid as students trace
9. Hand out scissors
10. Aid as students cut out seahorse
11. Hand out tissue paper and demo how to use brushes to glue it down
12. Aid as students add tissue paper
13. Allow to dry
14. Aid students in drawing a face on their seahorse
15. Finish
16. Display!
