1. Students can paint pieces individualy or in groups.
2. Have students sketch out the basic elements of the picture onto their paper/canvas.
3. If working in groups, have them divide up the steps. One or two can paint in the backgroud, one can do lettering if applicable, one can paint details/ highlights and shadows, etc.
4. Have students or teacher take pictures of the people that are going to be the new "subject" for their paintings. Print out photos to the correct size that will go with their paintings.
5. After paintings are painted, glue photo onto them to complete the picture.

Students will be graded on the ability to work as a team with equal parts distributed. If working individually, they will be graded on the effectiveness of accurately using acrylic painting techniques as well as interpreting a fine art piece.

We have done this project 3 times, one with fine art, one with movie posters, and one with band covers. It is a big hit every year and the kids and faculty love doing it!
