Create Gustav Klimt inspired paintings of figures using the popular 'poured paint' method.

THE PLAN
5 sessions; 75 minutes per session

1. SWBAT understand the history of Gustav Klimt
2. SWBAT understand color theory and color mixing

1. Foam Core or large paper
2. Acrylic paint
3. Colored pencils
4. Mixed media materials

1. Teacher introduces Gustav Klimt and discusses his history and how he relates to the Byzantinne and Romanticism art styles and how he influenced Art Nouveau.
2. Teacher introduces concept of 'poured paint'
3. Students plan out figurative drawings with long flowing dresses/suits
4. Students pour acrylic paint to create dress/suit paying attention to color and color mixing
5. Students add figure to poured paint composition turning poured paint design into a dress or suit for a figure
6. Students add on mixed media materials to enhance overall design.
