This is simple graphic which lists desired vs. undesired behavior. My sister made this when she was a middle school language arts teacher. We use this the same way, and it works like magic-in "cutting to the chase" and stopping whining, excuses.... When a student enters class with an excuse, whine...I simple point to the behavior on the "Playing Below the Line" poster and ask " How are you going to fix it? I then point to the "Playing Above the Line" poster and let them select the desired behavior. We shake hands, I say "cool" and life goes on. :)
